LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and more.

Queer is a short-hand term for LGBTQIA+, and also the Q in the longer acronym.

Trans is a term used to describe someone whose gender does not align with the one they were assigned at birth.

Intersectionality is the way people’s social identities can overlap. It is an understanding that all inequality is not created equal. Intersectionality is a lens, a prism, for seeing the way in which various forms of inequality often operate together and exacerbate each other.
